High Sierra

Just got our High Sierra tickets and I am psyched! It will be our first trip up there in several years and I'm curious to hear what peoples' experiences have been at the fairgrounds in Quincy these last few years. Family obligations kept us away, but we were also protesting the oversale of the venue and the armed law enforcement officers we saw on the grounds. You are in California but don't let that deceive you. It is a conservative county and they make money every year on arrests so don't be stupid -- especially in trips off the fairgrounds. Best to stock up and stay put. The last year we were there (2004) some folks were searched and arrested in their camps! Not trying to be a buzz kill, but don't want to see people run into trouble. This is also why I'm curious about what it's been like in the last 5 years we haven't been up there.

Hope to meet some of you up there -- i'll be wearing wings some of the time and hooping some of the time and dancing all of the time.

Safe travels everyone!

All good! Including weather, not too hot, saw no uniforms or guns (did have a massive warhead boogie however!), the festival is alive and well -- the dance and play everywhere gives me hope and makes me so grateful to be alive here and now. As T.S. Eliot says, “where the dance is, that is what and where it is.”

It was a chill scene. How nice to breathe freely.
